Basil at 'Aunty Carmen's'

Basil at 'Aunty Carmen's'

Shortly after Christmas last year I decided that i wanted to adopt a rescue dog, in particular a westie.  After doing some research I discovered Basil, I fell in love with him as soon as i saw his photo!

Basil was being fostered by Carmen and I was put in touch with her and that is where our journey began…

Basil had spent the entire 4 years of his life as a stud dog at a breeding farm in Wales and had never known what home life was, he had been adopted by someone and returned shortly after as he had bitten the male adopter.  I spoke at great length with Carmen and she explained the principles of dog listening and alot of what she said at the time made sense.  Basil arrived a few days later a little bewildered and worried. We gave him the time he needed and followed Carmens instructions and within a short time Basil seemed to visibly relax – it was as if he knew where he stood and understood that he was part of our pack but he was not the pack leader!!

Nearly 16 months on everything that Carmen told us at the beginning totally makes sense we followed her principles and we now have a wonderful, well balanced and happy dog that we wouldn’t be without!  I have two children that follow the principles that Carmen laid down for us and not once have I ever questioned my decision to take on Basil our “problem dog”!

Carmen has always been at the end of the phone for us with any query or help and I would not hesitate to recommend both Carmen and her methods to anyone and everyone – she is amazing and still Basils stepmum!

Carmen, we can’t thank you enough for all your help and kindness and for allowing us to adopt Basil, we consider ourselves very lucky to have found you,  the Amichien Bonding methods and, of course, Basil!!
